Last week, I shared that I has read ‘Cake Therapist’ but what I didn’t tell you is that the second I finished that book, I started on the newest novel by Jane Green.
I have been a Jane Green fan since I read ‘Mr. Maybe’ back around 2000, so I was excited for ‘Summer Secrets’ to be released. This novel centers around Cat, a lovely British lass, who drinks way too much and soon (but not soon enough) realizes that she really as a drinking problem.
I found myself getting all stirred up when she was finally connecting with the family she always wanted to and blew it big time. It was emotional for me because, well, let’s say I have been personally touched by alcoholism. Luckily, she gets the helps she needs, but not before her marriage is ruined (or is it?!!) and faces the challenges of raising her tween daughter.
I do not want to give too much away but I adore that Cat spends time in Nantucket, which is not to far from RI, and had to make amends – don’t we all!
What I enjoyed most is that the book surprised/shocked me twice, and I can usually figure out what is going to happen in a book, so I love when the author throws me for a loop.
