This was the 10th year that we have headed to the Mt. Washington Valley in mid-June. This is also the 7th time that we have taken the kids to StoryLand in Glen, NH.
Our children are now 9 and 11 and insisted that StoryLand, along with some other adventures that I will share in the coming day, be a part of our vacation plans.
In fact, the first thing we have done each year, is to head into the park after 3 p.m. as they give you tickets to come back another day in the season. This way, we hit their favorite rides right off the bat, and then come back for another full day so they get to ride them again.
Yes, our 9 and 11 year olds love it there – still! I know you, along with most others, think of StoryLand as the baby, toddler, little kid amusement park, and it is great for those age groups however, I am going to show you why tweens love it too.
There is the ‘Bamboo Chutes’, which we rode about 18 times. There’s water and a butterflies-in-your-belly drop, so tweens and parents love it.
The Roar-a-Saurus is a wooden roller coaster that opened last year. The coaster is not a super high coaster but it is a fast coaster that entertains all ages.
The flying fish, the twisty turtles, and Dr.Geyser’s Raft Ride….
Oh, and the Polar Coaster, which the kids love to ride a few times after getting damp on the Bamboo Chutes and Dr. Geysers.
The ride that made me laugh the most was the ‘Slash Battle: Pharaoh’s Reign’ because our son stayed on the perimeter and soaked people while my hubby and daughter were in a boat, soaking our son right back.
Consider yourself warned: there a no innocent bystanders. People on the boat shoot water on anyone nearby and vise-versa.
They also enjoyed visiting the animals, riding the German carousel (the horses rock and since they are now old enough, they can make the horses ‘bounce’), and being silly all over the park. Tweens will also love riding the Flying Fish, the Crazy Barn, Loopy Lab, and Twirling Turtles.
Disclosure: I was provided with tickets to facilitate my post. All opinions are my own.
