During mid-August, my lovely friend Uchenna and her son were visiting. One of Uche’s requests was to go to NYC for the day and amongst other stops, to head to the World Trade Center and 911Memorial.
Our time at the 911 Memorial was painful, inspiring, and educational.
We stood at each reflecting pool and answered any questions the kids had. It was impossible to me keep tears from forming. Our daughter and I held hands, placed them into the authorized area and said a prayer.

Rebuilding.
This is the ‘Survivor Tree’. This tree was already of the end of its’ expected life cycle on 9/11, but was found to be the only tree left standing in the plaza after the attacks. It was battered, bruised and ripped apart but has been nursed back to health. Can you see the new growth on the limbs?
We were in awe of this tree and learning about it was a great way to end our visit there.
