CVS ExtraCare Rewards: Purse to Plate Series – How To Save Money On Groceries

This week we will put a twist on this series because Karen is actually at CVS for a few days (fun right?) therefore, I decided to share some great tips on the best ways to save money on groceries.

1. Plan with the Sale Flyer: Since we started this series, I have been vigilant about using the Stop & Shop sales flyer in order to maximize my savings.  If pork is on sale than we are certainly going to have pork for at least one meal.

2. Shop the Day Old Bread Rack: Most times the best bakery breads with no preservatives are on the day old rack the day after they were on display and trust me, a few seconds in the microwave or minutes in the oven and they are good to go. Or use then to bake an ‘Easy Egg, Cheese & Chicken Sausage Breakfast Bread Bowl’

3. Shop the Reduced Produce Rack: Nothing like a good stir fry to fill you up on the cheap – pair it up with the sale proteins or keep it vegetarian.

4. Skip the Two for One: Did you know that mot of the time when you see a but two for X (say 2/$4), that you do not have to buy both therefore, unless it is something that you will use before it expires, just buy one. For instance, if you see an item that you don’t use that often as buy 2 for $4, unless it states, you must buy two, you can save yourself $2 and simply buy one of the product.

Be sure to head over to Koupon Karen for more money saving tips!
