Yes, the second week of silence is a bit frustrating: It is growing old and the 6 year old is rebelling a bit. However, on the positive side: Many grown-ups poke fun that my husband must be enjoying this, my son is having to learn to read more words than he probably cared for (but is so proud every time Mommy shakes her head ‘yes’) and my husband increased my cell phone texting allowance out of necessity.
I also want to share some, what I think are amusing stories with you:
‘My Adventures at Panera Bread’: I dropped by a Panera Bread the other day since I was nearby running errands. I stood in line with my trusty pad with the words ‘Iced Latte Please’ neatly written. I proudly showed the cashier my note and her response set off a flurry of activity. She said ‘Oh, oh, wait, we have an employee that knows sign language!’ I tried to indicate to her that was not necessary but it was too late, she was off on a mission to help me to her fullest. She came back about 2 minutes later with the employee. I don’t think the other customers in line were thrilled about the wait. I wrote that I only can not speak for a short period of time and that I do not know sign language. The poor attendant was all apologetic. I just smiled and gave her a look that I hoped indicated ‘that was so sweet of you and no worries’.
‘Case of The Shrunken Mushroom’: Earlier this week I had lunch with my friend before she flew home. We dined at Bertucci’s with my trusty laptop by my side as a communication tool. I ordered the mushroom burger as without the bun, it would be soft on my throat to swallow. The server brought me my lunch and for the next 5 minutes, I strained my throat laughing….I mean look at how much smaller the mushroom is then the bun! Does the photo even truly relay that the mushroom is about 30% of the size of the bun. We joked that maybe they thought they could get away with it since they knew I could not talk (based on my written notes when ordering). Thank goodness I also had some soup and veggies to eat.
Hope you laughed.
What? Oh yes, the main photo above is a teaser for the little treat I will share with you tomorrow!
