It happened again yesterday: It was 7:00 pm and the phone rang. I recognized the realtor’s number. Some folks wanted to see our house today. Naturally, the house is a mess but the first thing I did (after feeling a bit bummed as I had planned on going to bed early) was to grab the affresh tabs for both the dishwasher, disposal and clothes washer.
Not kidding. I need the appliances to smell and look great! You know that most people want the appliances when they buy a house and they do open them to take a peek. So, I have to remove everything, put things away where they belong (ugh) and make sure they look and smell clean.
You may recall that I started using the dishwasher/disposal tabs last month and I started by cleaning all of the gunky junk that gets stuck under the seam of the dishwasher door. I have found that the affresh is helping to keep that nastiness from building up there again and the dishwasher is not stinky. Score!
All brands of dishwashers and garbage disposals have the potential for odor if not properly cleaned, especially when dishes sit in the dishwasher for multiple days or when food particles are not completely rinsed away. I know that unless you go down near the drain and scoop out the junkies that hang down there, you are asking for a nasal assault.
In addition, I swear that the yuckies that don’t get rinsed off the dishes seem to wipe off the bottom of the dishwasher and near the door a bit easier. Using the tabs is really easy: Simply place one tablet in the main dishwasher detergent tray and another tablet in the prewash tray or in the bottom of the dishwasher. Run on the heaviest cycle – without dishes – using the hottest wash temperature to activate the affresh chemistry to dissolve and neutralize odor, leaving behind a crisp citrus scent.
Now, let’s see if the house sells.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of affresh and received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
